What is that bright thing in the sky?

Well what do you know, the sun still exists! After prolonged periods of plain grey skies and the occaisional drop of snow (yet there hasn't been much rain?) the sun was out in full force with a perfect crystal blue sky just waiting to be walked out in to. That is exactly what Jess and I did too! We closed our eyes pointed to a map of London and our fingers landed on Hampstead Heath, where the grass is green and the animals (kids) play! It was the perfect destination to test out Jess's brand spankin' new Canon Power Shot G7 that was delivered fresh from Amazon this morning. It made my photographs from my Sony cybershot look like preschool potato prints it's that good! But unfortunately for Jess, she only had a 32mb SD card to play with (along with Mana's 16mb one that Jess borrowed) while she awaits the delivery of her 1Gb card. It was such a beautiful day and anyone that didn't (or hasn't for that matter) dropped in to Hampstead Heath, are missing out! There's so much greenery along with the ponds and animals that await your viewing it was a shame we didn't get all romantic like and bring along the vino, cheese and pic-a-nic basket! But then all the photos we would've consisted of us both consuming food and liquor which I'm sure you would all love to see! :P

Afterwards, as it is NZ's Waitangi Day (Australia Day ala New Zealand) celebrations which took place today, Jess and I went along to see the pseudo-Australians party it up and see the Haka performed in the middle of parliment square in Westminster (right outside Westminster Abbey). I myself thought it was a bit of a fizzer as I couldn't even hear the Haka let alone see it. But then again I hadn't been drinking on the Circle/District line pub crawl since 10am, that's alot of stops!

Tonight we are celebrating Debs Anniversary of living in London at her house and the Vodka and Red Bull is already flowing so who knows what the night will bring but I'll be sure to give you the heads up tomorrow once I put myself back together like Lego in the morning when my eyesight isn't so fuzzy I can type again. Pete's back in town after being in Brisbane for a holiday playing up as much as he could, bearing a humongous bottle of Bundy for me to devour which is a taste from home I dearly miss along with the thick cut steaks and mushroom sauce my old mate dishes up with perfection everytime. Anyway peoples, I'm doing my best to keep this thing of mine updated so keep checking back 'orrite! Stay well and enjoy your weekend while it lasts! Gav.

Celebrating Invasion Day in London

If we ever needed an excuse to drink over here in London, Australia Day is THE excuse! It was time to throw on our thermal, jacket and scarf and join all of the Australians over here who teamed up for an afternoon/evening to drink as much Australian beer that could be stomached! Well before they ran out of the stuff anyway. The Peoples Republic in our local Clapham was the bar of choice on this typical cold grey day, far from the blistering heat that is taking place back home. It was close, was replaying the Hottest 100 in full and wasn't a Walkabout which I have heard many a bogan visit on a regularly basis. We arrived around 1:30pm and it didn't take long for the festivities to get in to full swing (or Mana to finish her first beer for that matter!). With the Hottest 100 cranking over the sound system and the heaters turned on, it was as close to home as we were going to get. The bar even put on 'Aussie Tucker' which consisted typically of sausage rolls, meat pies and a toasted cheese and Vegemite sandwich that used marmite - very un-Australian, our friend Mark was none too pleased about it! We didn't really understand why as you can get Vegemite for 2 pounds here at your local Tesco, which is about the only Aussie food you can get over here that's cheap. Oh that and Fosters which I'm still yet to drink. My beer of choice was James Boags until they swiftly ran out of it, then it was on to a Western Australian beer that I had never heard of called Little Creatures which wasn't a bad drop at all. By about 8:30pm the whole place was filled with green & gold of all kinds from t-shirts and rugby jerseys to clown wigs and scarves, with the odd Australian flag cape running around. We hit the road later on (thankfully not literally) and ventured towards Tesco where the beer was much cheaper and wondered back home for another brew. There are plenty of photos of our day which captured the awesome time we had, with a few on my smugmug and heaps on Romana's Smugmug too. So go check-check-check 'em out! Hope everyone back home managed to stay cool, had a steak for all of us over here stuck with mad cow and most of all - had fun! Take it easy guys! Gav.

It's a ParkLife-Life for us!

Leave it to the Ten Pound Crew to hit you with a Dragon Punch you for a 3-hit combo when it comes to bringing the noise. When i say noise i'm talking full quality music for a full quality day. Last years Parklife at the RNA brought together some of the finest muscians for a brilliant day out with a great crowd which, by the smile of everyones faces through out the day, revealed how much fun they were having. Don't believe me? Here's Jess's photos to prove it!

If you need proof look at the poster right there - yeah i know you can see it! What a line up! Seriously! Mixmaster Mike, Cold Cut, Krafty Kuts, Stanton Warriors, Freeform Five, Who Made Who, Butterfingers, My Ninja Lover, Pty Ltd and plenty of other groove makers still to be announced! I know Im getting my early bird for this festival of awesomeness because I don't need to umm and arr about getting along to Brisbane's South Bank for this one.

Ten Pounds of Funk and shit in yo face! God bless ya Ten Pounders.

Splendour in the Mud

If you have been living under a rock for about the past month you would'nt know that the annual Byron Bay music festival "Splendour in the Grass" is on this weekend! With my trusty, personalised, fancy pants and ID needin' ticket, I plan to soak up the cold air and wet weather for a most awesome weekend. Yeah you heard me...wet weather has been forecast for this weekend but fingers crossed it will be only a light helping - for this weekend anyway! Damn shame I'm not camping! :-D With a line up including such favourites as Dj Shadow, Death Cab for Cutie, Scissor Sisters, Wolfmother, The Avalanches (athough its only a dj set), Something for Kate, Decoder Ring, Paul Mac, The Presets, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Mos Def, TZU and plenty of other people that make good music; it's going to be a corker! So this weekend will be a non-event blogging wise but be prepared for an onslaught of images and video of the event once I put myself back together after the fact. :) I'm still waiting for the street press to publish the timetable that I will no doubt take the time out to make a game plan that will probably either be lost or not followed anyway :P But it's always smart to be prepared! This will by my first splendour - bring it on!!! Psssst...hey! Want to see what the ticket swag looks like?

The Vader Sessions

Ok all you Star Wars fans, geeks, cosplay dressers and Vader lovers - this is for you! More vader than you can spear an ewok with! Whats great about this video is that it really is Earl Jones' voice is sampled from all his different movies which makes for a great effect. It's a little long (about 9 mins) but i got a heap of good laughs out of it! "You get your black ass outta here!" lol! My favourite bit has to be the Tie Fighter Part :) Get Vadorised now and watch the video!

You Two Faced Little .... Cat?

Today's bizarre news story comes to you from NBC in the US with a report on a kitten that was recently born with not one but two mouths to feed! Who's going to pay for all that food I ask? What will all the other cats think of this amazing animal and which face would they go for first? I kinda want to get 2 balls and taunt them with it and throw the ball in different directions to see what happens. Evil yes - but funny!

New Old Update Kinda Sorta

Well I've finally managed to scan a good portion of my old photo's hidden away for years in a draw i nearly forgot i even had! Now that I have discovered the digital age of cameras I needed to re-scan these photos at a higher revolution making them look a whole lot better and even managed to find some photoskills while i was at it. Some of these photos date near 10 years or more and my scanner is nearly as old and some photos look a little dusty so sorry about that but thems the breaks! I still have a heap of the old photos coming along shortly so stay tuned there's still more! While on the subject of photo's, if you haven't already checked out my smugmug site be sure to as there are plenty of recent photos too. Bri's birthday party at the Sunbar is one of them! Well kids keep coming back as Im finally getting the hang of this blog-o-rama!

Crazy Japanese Simpsons Commercial Get!

Mr Sparkel!!!! One of the more amusing clips i've seen from The Simpsons, this particular one karate chops you in the face and makes you jump in vats of hot water to score points for your team! I heart Japanese culture! Enjoy!
